When he is not performing, Michael is a devoted teacher. He started out on viola as a child and went through much of the Suzuki system as a student. As a teacher trained through the Suzuki Training System, Michael incorporates the best elements of a classical approach with the repertoire and best elements of the Suzuki method. He teaches students of all ages and skill levels. And while he loves to teach violin and viola, also teaches music theory.

His students have been accepted into Austin Youth Orchestra, All Region and Area orchestra, and All State orchestra.

Goals and criteria when teaching:

• Develop self-proficient students, giving them the capabilities to take on any challenge

• Create engaging lesson/practice schedule plans to maximize students' potential

• Build honest and constructive relationships with students

• Demystify the musical process through concrete step by step instruction
